The museum schedules a number of lectures throughout the year.

Lecture subjects covered recently include: Roman cavalry garrisons, the Celtic horse goddess Epona, Roman cavalry tombstones and cavalry sports helmets.

CONFERENCE: Celebrating Roman West Cumbria

A weekend conference to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the opening of the Museum. The weekend includes lectures about recent excavations at Maryport, Ravenglass and Beckfoot, Maryport and the Frontiers of the Roman Empire WHS, a new perspective on the collection and the Roman military in West Cumbria. On Sunday there will be an opportunity to visit the museum and tour the fort and civilian settlement.

 Tickets are £30 for the weekend and there is an option to join by Zoom (£10). The conference venue is at The Wave, which is adjacent to the harbour in Maryport and offers a larger and better ventilated venue.
